Bangladesh Bank has launched a booklet on its policy measures taken against the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
Central Bank Governor Fazle Kabir unveiled the document titled “Policy measures of Bangladesh Bank in response to the Covid-19 pandemic” on Sunday.During the ceremony, the governor praised the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for keeping the wheels of economy run during this difficult time.
He said Bangladesh Bank has played the highest role from its position in issuance of circulars on policy and strategy of the central bank for banks.
It took decisions to keep banks open in a limited scale, implement the incentive packages urgently and approve special allowances for bank officers and employees.
Fazle Kabir said the decisions were “remarkable initiatives from the central bank which kept the country's financial sector afloat
and appreciated by all.” He thanked the concerned officials of the Chief Economist’s Unit for compiling an excellent booklet containing information on various activities during the pandemic.
Deputy Governors Ahmed Jamal, Kazi Sayedur Rahman and A.K.M Sajedur Rahman Khan also spoke at the function as special guests.Besides, executive directors, general managers and officers of the concerned departments of Bangladesh Bank, who played a special role during the lockdown, were also present on the occasion.
The executive director of Chief Economist’s unit Habibur Rahman moderated the event.
