Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan on Thursday said 10,000 to 12,000 people would be recruited to ease the manpower crisis of Bangladesh Railway.
“Right now, some 137 stations remain closed due to shortage of manpower. We have taken an initiative to recruit some 10,000 to 12,000 people in the first phase to address manpower crisis,” he said while addressing a programme at Rail Bhaban in the capital.Hinting at publishing circular for the recruitment soon, he said that Bangladesh Railway would be freed from manpower crisis within two to three years.
Mentioning that there is a lack of infrastructure in Railways, Sujan said security risk will remain until double-track lines are introduced.
“We are working to modernize the rail tracks. We have to work responsibly instead of making excuses,” he said.
