Bangladesh Muktijoddha Santan Sangsad, a platform of freedom fighters’ offspring, staged a sit-in blocking the capital’s busy Shahbagh intersection on Tuesday to press home their seven-point demand, including reinstatement of 30 percent quota in government services.
Carrying posters and placards, members of the organisation from across the country gathered in front of the National Museum at around 10:00am.Later, they moved to Shahbagh intersection and started the sit-in programme at around 12:00pm. Following the sit-in, traffic movement in and around the area has been disrupted.
However, police briefly turned water cannon on the protesters and eventually disperse them in the evening. Additional police have been deployed in the area to avert untoward incident.
