Australia has decided to lift its ban on air cargo from Bangladesh considering the country's progress in airport security.

Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh H E Jeremy Bruer disclosed this at a meeting with Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman on Tuesday at the CAAB office.

Australia banned air cargo from Bangladesh, Syria, Egypt, Yemen and Somalia as a preventive security measure in 2016.

During the meeting, Australian High Commissioner informed the CAAB Chairman that their government has decided to withdraw the air cargo ban fully and will change its existing policy soon.
