14 nabbed over two murder

Law enforcers arrested 14 people in connection with two separate murder incidents during raids in the capital and its adjoining areas on Sunday.

Mahbub Alam, joint commissioner (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), disclosed the information on Monday while briefing journalists at its media centre.

Of them, Mohammad Shukkur, Mohammad Nurul Islam Swapan, Mohammad Ratan alias Solaiman alias Rommo, Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman alias Dipu, Fahim Hasan Tanvir alias Laden, Tarikul Islam Tarek and Masud Parves, who were reportedly involved in the murder of Jakir Hossain in Purba Jurain of Kadamtali, were nabbed by DB of Wari division.

They also allegedly injured Mojibor Rahman alias Mohon on the night of February 10. During preliminary interrogation, they confessed that they are members of a criminal gang. They carried out the attack on Jakir and Mohon over establishing supremacy in the area. The arrestees are wanted by the police for several cases.

On the other hand, a team of Motijheel Detective Division arrested seven teenagers for their alleged complicity in the murder of Hasan Mia in Mugda on the evening of February 12.
