Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Mohammad Jasim Uddin held talks with the prison chief in Qatar about bringing the Bangladeshi prisoners under the purview of legal facilities and pardon by the Amir.

During the meeting with Brigadier Mohd Soud Al Otaibi, Chief of the Central Prison and Director of the Penalty and Reform Institution, the Ambassador inquired about the quality of food, medical treatment and recreational facilities of the Bangladeshi prisoners and sought cooperation of the prison authorities to bring them under legal facilities.

Brigadier Otaibi briefed the Ambassador on the facilities provided by the prison authority and informed him that Amiri pardon is announced twice a year -- one on Qatar's National Day and the other during Ramadan -- said a press release of the Bangladesh Embassy in Doha on Wednesday.

The Ambassador requested him to include more Bangladeshis in the amnesty. In response, Brigadier Otaibi assured him that necessary steps will be taken.

After the meeting, the ambassador met 53 Bangladeshi prisoners and inquired about their well-beings.
