Singaporean convicted of assaulting Bangladeshi

A Singaporean court on Friday convicted a citizen of the country for assaulting his Bangladeshi employee in 2018.

The convicted is Ng Aik Leong, an actor and film director. He is also known as Huang Yiliang.

District Judge John Ng found the actor guilty of assaulting his employee and delivered his verdict in the court.

According to case statement, the 59-year-old Leong hit Bangladeshi Jahidul, 34 on his head and abdomen with a metal scrap, leaving him seriously injured.

The incident took place on Braddell Road at Singapore Islamic Hub (SIH) in the country on December 11, 2018.

Earlier in the last year, Jahidul testified before the court accusing Ng that he frequently yelled at and threatened him.

Leong has also been accused of disturbing the public peace and fighting with another man, Mogana Raj Saravanan, on June 9, 2019.
