Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football begins in Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar: Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football Tournament 2021 kicked-off at Bir Shreshtho Ruhul Amin Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on Friday.

Cox's Bazar Municipality organised the event to mark the 100th birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Senior Secretary for Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Helal Uddin Ahmed inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.

After the inaugural programme, Team Ramu Upazila beat Chakaria Upazila Football Akados by 4-3 goals in the tiebreaker as their match ended in a goalless draw in the stipulated time.

Eight upazials of Cox’s Bazar are participating in the meet. Other six upazials are: Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Kutubdia, Maheshkhali, Teknaf, Ukhia and Pekua.

The champions will be awarded Tk 1 lakh while runners-up Tk 50 thousand. Besides, top scorers, man of the tournament and man of the matches will be awarded with prize money.
