A Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) official was killed and four others were injured in a tragic road accident that occurred at the Hijlia station of the Rajapalang union in the Ukhiya upazila on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Jahurul Haque, a 48-year-old deputy assistant engineer of Ukhiya LGED, hailed from the Nihingsh area of Kushtia Sadar upazila.

According to Md Saiful Islam, the Officer-in-Charge of Shahpuri Highway Police Station, the accident occurred at around 10:40 am on Thursday.

The deceased's body was transported to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for a thorough autopsy, while the injured have received medical attention and been admitted to Ukhiya Sadar Hospital.
