A mild cold wave is likely to sweep across the northern and northwestern regions of the country from today.
“The overall temperature started to decline on Tuesday and it may continue for several days,” said Shahinul Islam, a meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).Night temperature may fall by 1-2 degree Celsius over the northern part and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere in the country, the BMD forecast.
It also forecast that day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The meteorologist further said a mild cold wave may start to sweep across the country over the northern and northwestern regions from today.
“There is no chance of a severe cold wave in the country until January 20,” he said, adding that temperature may start to increase in the next 3-4 days after the mild cold wave.
Another spell of cold wave may sweep across in the country after January 20, he also said.
The lowest temperature was recorded 11.4 degree Celsius at Badalgachhi in Rajshahi on Tuesday while the highest temperature was 18 degrees in Dhaka.Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country.
Moderate-to-thick fog may occur over the country during the midnight-to-morning period and it may continue until noon over the northwestern region.
