Former Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Sayeed Khokon has termed the recent demolition drive at Fulbaria Super Market-2 on instructions of its incumbent Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh as illegal act.

The former mayor also asked to compensate the traders, said a press release on Friday.

Sayeed Khokon will also join traders of Fulbaria Super Market-2 at Kadam Foara near the high court to protest against the demolition of some shops at the market by the city corporation.

The press release said that he will take part in the really at the request of the family members of the people affected by the eviction drive.

Khokon said that the 911 shops which were demolished are not illegal, but the present mayor bypassed laws by conducting demolition drive.

Recently, the DSCC conducted a demolition drive as they found that 911 shops at the market were constructed, violating the original design of the market.

The corporation board under the former DSCC mayor approved the shops by issuing trade licenses and realised rent from the traders.
