Two special exhibitions began at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on Tuesday.
Between the two exhibitions, a group art exhibition titled ‘Bangabandhu: Statesman of the Era’ began at the Gallery 4 of the National Art Gallery. Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), the High Commission of India in Dhaka, has organised the exhibition in collaboration with the BSA, marking the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur RahmanEducation Minister Dr Dipu Moni inaugurated the special exhibition as the chief guest at 05:00pm. Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Vikram Doraiswami presided over the inaugural event, while former cultural affairs minister Asduzzaman Noor and Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, chief coordinator of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee, joined the programme as the special guests.
Twelve prolific artists of the country are showcasing their works at the exhibition. The artists are Abdul Mannan, Md Muniruzzaman, Syeda Mahbuba Karim Mini, Kader Bhuiyan, Kiriti Ranjan Biswas, Sanjib Das Apu, Prashanta Kumar Buddha, SM Mizanur Rahman, Md Jakir Hossain Pulok, Manjur Rashid, Manik Banik and Sourav Chowdhury.
The exhibition will remain open for everyone from 11:00am to 06:00pm till November 28.
Earlier, a three-day exhibition on Islamic calligraphy arts and photographs, marking the International Day of Islamic Art 2020 began at noon.
Cultural Affairs Ministry’s additional secretary Md Abdul Mannan Ilias inaugurated the exhibition at 12:00pm as the chief guest.
Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO’s Deputy Secretary General Md. Shohel Imam Khan attended the inaugural ceremony as the special guest with BSA secretary Md Nawshad Hossain in the chair.The exhibition will continue till November 26 from 11:00am to 6:00pm.
