Every year, on the eve of 2 November, just before midnight on 1 November, thousands gather outside Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic residence “Mannat” at Bandstand, Mumbai, hoping for a glimpse of the superstar on his birthday. This year too, the frenzy, excitement and fanfare remained unchanged.

On Saturday, 1 November, fans travelled from far and near to take part in the celebration, assembling outside Mannat from earlier in the evening in hopes of witnessing Shah Rukh’s much-awaited midnight appearance.

By late Saturday afternoon, fans wearing T-shirts printed with Shah Rukh’s photos and holding posters and banners began gathering near Mannat. The entire Bandstand stretch echoed with chants of “Happy Birthday Shah Rukh Khan,” charged with intense enthusiasm and admiration.

For the past few days, refurbishment work has been underway at Mannat. Shah Rukh Khan has temporarily shifted to a sprawling apartment owned by producer Vashu Bhagnani, while renovation continues at his residence. Despite knowing that Shah Rukh is currently not staying there, loyal fans — following their annual tradition — have still thronged the gates of Mannat, hoping for a fleeting glimpse of their beloved star.

Interestingly, when fans informed Shah Rukh via the ‘Ask SRK’ session on X that they planned to gather outside Mannat, the actor replied humorously, saying, “You will definitely see me at Mannat this time too. But all of you must come wearing hard hats.” His comment was likely a safety advisory due to ongoing construction at the site — workers at Mannat have already been seen wearing helmets.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh’s close friends including Karan Johar and Farah Khan have arrived in Alibaug to celebrate the star’s birthday. On this milestone 60th birthday, the much-anticipated first look of Shah Rukh’s new suspense thriller King is expected to be unveiled. Director Siddharth Anand has been dropping strong hints on X for days, writing, “Remember there is only one…”. Fans instantly picked up the message and responded, “We remember — there is only one King!”

It is already widely known that King will also mark the first major big-screen appearance of Shah Rukh’s daughter, Suhana Khan, adding to the excitement surrounding the project.
