Teen gang kills youth in capital

A worker of a plastic factory at Chawkbazar in the capital was killed and another seriously injured in an attack carried out by members of a teen gang on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Ilias Hossain, 26, son of Golam Nabi of Magura sadar while injured was Selim Reza, 27, who was undergoing treatment in Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Kabir Hossain Howlader, inspector (investigation) of Chawkbazar Police Station, told the Daily Sun that the deceased and the injured were working at the plastic factory on Khazidewan Lane No. 1.

According to the officer, a number of teenagers, who are involved in teen gangster culture, used to play in front of the factory.

The owner of the factory forbade the teens not to play there.  The teens and the employees of the factory were locked in an argument over the issue on Tuesday evening. 

At around 8:30pm, the teens equipped with sharp weapons and sticks attacked the employees of the factory.

They hacked and stabbed Ilias and Selim. The victims were taken to the DMCH where physicians declared Ilias dead at around 9:00pm.  

Inspector Kabir said that they identified the attackers and tried to arrest them.

A case was filed with the police station in this regard, he added.
