PJSC ‘ZiO-Podolsk’ (a part of the machine building division of Rosatom - Atomenergomash), manufactured and shipped a set of main equipment for the Rooppur NPP.

Two tanks of the emergency cooling system of the reactor zone (ECCS) and two high-pressure heaters PVD-K-5 and PVD-K-6 were sent to the Republic of Bangladesh. The equipment is designed for power unit No. 2, said a press release.

The emergency cooling tank of the reactor zone is designed for automatic supply of a boric acid cooling solution to the reactor core in the event of a coolant leak and is put  into operation in the event of an emergency depressurization of the primary circuit. The ECCS tank is an element of the passive part of the emergency cooling system of the reactor zone. The weight of each container is 78 tons.

High-pressure heaters PVD-K-5, 6 are elements of the turbine hall of a nuclear power plant. They are large-sized items from 9.5 to 12.5 meters long and weighing from 110 to 130 tons. They perform the function of heating the feed water supplied to the steam generator by cooling and condensing the steam taken from the intermediate stages of the turbine.

The total weight of products shipped for power unit No. 2 of NPP "Rooppur" was about 400 tons. The equipment manufactured at ZiO-Podolsk has a 50-year service life.

The design documentation was developed by specialists of the Department of Nuclear Engineering Equipment of PJSC "ZiO-Podolsk", they also provide author support for the manufacture.

JSC Atomenergomash is a complete supplier of all equipment for the reactor compartment and a significant part of the equipment for the turbine hall of the Rooppur NPP with a VVER-1200 reactor. The division's enterprises manufacture reactors, steam generators, pumping and heat exchange equipment.

The Rooppur NPP is being designed and built according to a Russian project. The plant will consist of two power units with an electric capacity of 1200 MW each with VVER reactors of generation 3+.

ROSATOM is the only company in the world that has the resources and competencies to offer energy solutions across the nuclear supply chain. It possesses a wide range of assets, including assets in design, construction and operation of nuclear power stations, uranium mining, conversion and enrichment, supply of nuclear fuel, decommissioning, spent fuel storage and transportation and safe nuclear waste disposal.
