A Sylhet court on Saturday afternoon put constable Harun-or-Rashid on a five-day remand after he was arrested from Sylhet Metropolitan Police Lines in the morning for his alleged involvement in the killing of Rayhan Ahmed in Bandarbazar Police Outpost.
Assistant Commissioner (prosecution) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Ammulla Kumar Chowdhury confirmed it.He said Inspector of Police Bureau of Investigation Muhidulam, who is investigating the killing of Rayhan, took Harun before Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court (3rd) with a prayer of seven-day remand.
Judge Sharmin Khanam Nila, however, granted a five-day remand. Earlier on October 19, the PBI arrested constable Titu Chandra Das.
On the night of October 10, some policemen of the outpost picked up Rayhan, 34, from Kotwali area and tortured him mercilessly. Rayhan succumbed to his injuries the next day.
