‘No starvation amid natural calamities’

Agriculture Minister Dr M Abdur Razzaque on Friday said that currently people of the country are not starving due to the agriculture friendly policy of the government amid Covid-19 pandemic.

He said, “Bangladesh has witnessed tremendous success in agriculture and food production. The government’s farmer and agriculture-friendly policy, providing subsidy in irrigation, fertiliser, and seeds, and new invention have fetched unprecedented advancement in agriculture and food production.”

He made the remarks as a chief guest at a programme at Diploma Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh in city marking the Diploma Krishibid Day-2020.

Terming the diploma agriculturists as the front line warriors, the minister said the farmers are playing a significant role in food production and at the same time they are also contributing to the development of agriculture.

Chaired by DKIB convener M Golam Sarwar, the virtual meeting was also joined by Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE)’s Director General Dr Abdul Muyeed, former DAE DG M Hamidur Rahman, KIB Secretary General Khairul Alam Prince, DKIB Member Secretary M Mintu Khan and other DKIB members.
