‘Govt focuses on local innovations’

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the government has focused on technology-based local innovations to tackle the future challenges of the country.

Addressing a virtual graduation ceremony of young entrepreneurs on Tuesday, Palak also said the ICT department is working to develop an entrepreneurial culture and also to reduce the disparity between the urban and rural areas.  ICT Division Investment Advisor Tina F Jabeen conducted the session while Better Stories Chief Story Teller Minhaz Anwar moderated the event.

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, Better Stories and US Market Access jointly organised the accelerator programme titled ‘Covid Accelerator’ for young entrepreneurs with innovative business idea, mostly known as start-up.

In his speech, Palak said, “The ICT division has adopted a strategy for tackling the future challenges. We have proven our excellence in innovations to tackle corona virus as cyclone and other calamities.”

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and on the advice of ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the present government is now tackling the pandemic situation using digital technology through digital infrastructures built in the last few years, he added.

Among others, US Mac Cofounder Chris Burry, UC Berkeley Managing Director Ken Singer, Angel Capital Association Managing Director Ronald Weissman and Carrage Technology Venture of Europeo Union Managing Director Bill Rechard and global start-up mentor Steve Adelman joined the webinar.
