Middle-income groups in Ctg to get food

CHATTOGRAM: Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has taken initiative to aid middle-class families in the port city as they cannot express the necessity for the social status.

 CMP Commissioner Md Mahabubor Rahman instructed all the deputy commissioners (DC) and officer in-charges under four zones of the CMP to send the necessary food and medicine at doorsteps of the middle-class families as they are staying at home abiding by the government directives.

 CMP also launched hotline number to contact with them for necessary assistances.

 Commissioner Mahabubor said they are distributing goods among the poor people regularly. But, the middle-class people cannot express their necessity.

 “We decided to send necessary goods for middle-class families and will hide their identity through not capturing pictures or enlisting their names in any record,” he said.  On the other hand, the Civil Surgeon office instructed all the private hospitals to open flu-corner and run it round-the-clock. Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said they want to ensure the normal treatments at all the hospitals.

“We also prepared a quarantine centre for the doctors in the city’s Kazir Dewri area,” he said.

Besides, only two patients are kept in isolation ward in the port city till Friday, he added. 

Moreover, Chattogram district administration conducted drives led by executive magistrates in the city to ensure social distance and monitor the market and home-quarantined people.

Executive Magistrate Ashraful Alam said they conducted the drive with the assistance of police and army to ensure social distance.

“We noticed that people are aware now compared to the previous days to ensure social distance and we are also satisfied to see the people in home-quarantined as they are maintaining it,” he said.

 “We are creating awareness among people who come out without mask or emergency,” said the magistrate.
