Int’l Women’s Day celebrated at SUB

Southern University Bangladesh (SUB) celebrated the ‘International Women’s Day’ through different programmes on Sunday.

Discussion on women empowerment, article presentation, recitation and other cultural events featured the programme held at the university in the city’s Bayezid Bostami area.

Business Administration department Head Professor Dr Israt Jahan presided over the programme also attended by the university founder and Treasurer Professor Dr Sarwar Jahan, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Engineer M Ali Ashraf, other deans, teachers and students.

Law department Assistant Professor Suraiya Mamtaz presented an article on ‘Role of Women of Bangladesh in Economy with Zero Wage’ while other teachers and students expressed their opinions regarding the advancement of women and various obstacles.

The speakers at the discussion observed that the more the women will be educated, the fast the society will be developed as overall development of a society will not be possible without women development.

Bangladesh is one of the top ten countries in the field of women empowerment, they said.

The speakers also highly lauded the role of women in the economic growth of the country and said that the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is being considered as the role model for women development in the globe.
