Tourists in the country’s longest sandy beach Cox’s Bazar will be able to connect free internet facilities from 35 public Wi-Fi zones that opened in Cox’s Bazar.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the facility as the chief guest in Cox’s Bazar Cultural Centre in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday.Executive Director of BCC Partha Pratim Deb chaired the programme.
The residents and tourists, nearly 34,000 people, in Cox’s Bazar will now be able to access e-government services and internet from the free Wi-Fi zones with maximum 20 Mbps speed from their mobile phones, pads or laptops without any limitations at a time.
Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) is implementing the ‘Digital Sylhet City Project’ with the development of ‘Public Wi-Fi Zone’ in Sylhet and Cox’s Bazar to facilitate people with easy access to government services along with other internet services at free of cost.
Huawei, the leading global ICT solutions provider, has provided the cloud-managed public Wi-Fi solutions for this project.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, “Free Internet Program has been initiated to present the tourism of Cox’s Bazar before the world through digital marketing.”
The local people of cox’s bazar are very excited to have the free Wi-Fi facilities.Murad, a resident of cox’s Bazar City, said, “This one is a big example of the progress that Bangladesh is making today. Now we are getting all the things at home that we could not even imagine a few years ago.”
