“A total of 31 parks and playgrounds were in control of drug addicts. They roamed around there which became a safe haven for them. Eyewitness said that Haji Selim slapped the councillor. At one stage, chase and counter-chase took place between the followers of the two leaders. Talking to daily sun, witnesses said that Haji Selim himself ordered his followers to beat the councillor. The councillor also was seen crying at one stage.

Despite repeated attempts, this correspondent could not contact the councillor on the phone.  DSCC modernized Haji Abdul Alim Playground on 75 katha plot at a cost of Tk 8 crore.  Among others, chief executive officer of DSCC Shah Md Imdadul Huq, chief engineer Rezaul Karim and architect Raifque Azam attended the event.
