DNCC mayor inaugurates dev work in Uttara

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Monday inaugurated the development work in Uttara Sector 4 of the capital.

Under the project tilted “Improvement and construction of road with drain and footpath”, DNCC will improve and construct 2.874 kilometers of road, 4.948 kilometers of footpath and 7.948 kilometers of RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete ) drain. Speaking on the occasion, Atiqul Islam said they are developing both roads and drains to ensure smooth drainage system.

Warning contractors, he said, “We will appoint a third party to test the work. We will send the sample of the work to BUET. If good materials are not used in the work, then we won’t pay the bill.” He warned that nobody will be allowed to park cars on roads.

“We are constructing roads with public money. We are moving to smart car parking system by installing sensor. If anyone parks cars on the street, all information will automatically reach us.

“We will launch on-street parking soon to solve the problem. Anyone can park their cars paying a certain amount of money,” Anisul said.

Among others, local lawmaker advocate Sahara Khatun, DNCC chief engineer Brig General Sayeed Ahmed and zonal executive officer Julkar Nayen were present on the occasion.
