BSMRMU, NUFFIC exchange academic cooperation grant

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, Netherlands envoy to Bangladesh Harry Verweij and Vice-Chancellor of BSMRMU Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal pose for a photograph at an academic cooperation grant exchange ceremony at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka on Monday.

An academic cooperation grant was exchanged between Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) and NUFFIC, a Bangladesh and Netherlands-based academic institution, at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka on Monday.

In the event, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni was present as the chief guest while Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, Netherlands Ambassador to Bangladesh Harry Verweij and Vice-Chancellor of BSMRMU Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal were also present.

Netherlands Ambassador handed over the Academic Cooperation Grant to the VC of BSMRMU in the occasion. 

Under the NUFFIC Orange Knowledge program, the Netherlands government has approved a grant of one million euros to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University for higher maritime education and research for the development of maritime and port sectors of Bangladesh.

In her speech, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni emphasized maritime research and higher education.

The deputy minister in his speech highlighted the possibility of blue economy in the overall development of the country and the role of Maritime University.
