Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader hinted at taking action against Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice Chancellor if she was found involved in any wrongdoing.

“VC Farzana Islam has to face music if she was found involved in anomalies on university’s development projects,” he said.

Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, was briefing the press at his secretariat office in the capital on Tuesday.

Recently Farzana Islam claimed that former BCL president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and former general secretary Golam Rabbani demaded a good amount of money as extortion from the fund allocated for JU infrastructural development.

Later on Sunday, the two top leaders were relieved from their posts.

Not only BCL man but also anyone involved in any wrongdoings will have to face stern action, the minister warned.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to save image of the party, he said.

Relying to another question, Quader expressed his optimism about taking responsibility as general secretary for tenure if the party Chief Sheikh Hasina wants.
