Ratnam, Rahman slammed for working with Vairamuthu

Many comedians and Bollywood celebrities were named by survivors during the #MeToo movement. In fact, the movement set the foot in the South Indian Film industry as well after many singers and celebs shared their horrifying stories. Senior lyricist Vairamuthu, who has penned several songs in Tamil, was one of many who was accused of sexually harassing women. Recently, the news about lyricist Vairamuthu to work for Mani Ratnam's upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan, started doing rounds.

It is said that he will be penning 12 songs in the film and it will be composed by AR Rahman. Soon, Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman were criticised by their angry fans for working with someone who has been accused during the #MeToo movement. One of the Twitter users wrote, “Sorry....big Rahman fan but this does not do well. I really hope ARR steps down from this project, reports Pinkvilla.

Journalist Sandhya Menon was the first who took to Twitter and shared a screenshot of an anonymous allegation made against the lyricist Vairamuthu. Award-winning singer Chinmayi has been tweeting about sexual harassment since a very long time. In fact, Chinmayi also posted another anonymous allegation against Vairamuthu. While most of Kollywood has still maintained its silence, Chinmayi has been fighting against sexual harassment in the industry.
