Muktijuddho Moncho on Monday formed a human chain on the campus of Dhaka University (DU) demanding exemplary punishment for assaulting, torturing and killing freedom fighters in various parts of the country.

Several activists and leaders of the platform took part in the protest at the base of Raju Memorial Sculpture of DU.

“The freedom fighters have been killed in different parts of the country, but the assailants have not been brought to book yet,” said Prof AKM Jamal Uddin, convener of the Moncho.

“Attacks on the freedom fighters cannot be tolerated when the pro-liberation force is in power. We demand that the government identify the attackers and punish them immediately,” he added.

The protesters said that several freedom fighters were killed and many others were beaten up in various parts of the country including Bandarban, Cumilla, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet and Tangail. They demanded introduction of law to protect the families of freedom fighters.
