The World Cup match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was declared abandoned on Tuesday without a ball being bowled due to persistent heavy rain in Bristol. As rain washed out the match both the teams got one point each.

Bangladesh were looking to make a comeback after losing two consecutive matches against New Zealand and hosts England.

Bangladesh gathered three points from four matches as they are at the seventh spot of the points table.

Bangladesh will take on West Indies in their next match on June 17 at The Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton at 3:30pm (BST).

Sri Lanka have accumulated four points. The unwanted draw left Bangladesh to ponder about many things about qualifying for the semi-finals.

Bangladesh have five more matches left and they need to win at least four of them to qualify for the semi-finals without relying on the results of others’ matches.

Tigers started their World Cup campaign in style, beating South Africa.

Sri Lanka lost their first ICC World Cup match to current runners-up New Zealand but won their second match against Afghanistan. They sneaked out another point in their third encounter when the match was washed out.
