When you are downright sleepy and exhausted at work, it can be really tormenting to keep your eyes open in front of a screen. There is no denying that sleep is extremely crucial to lead a healthy and happy life.

It does not matter whether you are caught in the draining 9 to 6 job culture or pulled an all-nighter to finish the missed episode of GOT, one of the repercussions of not having a good night’s sleep is that you feel lethargic throughout the next day.

However, there are times when you have slept well at night but are still fighting the dreaded mid-day yawns right in the middle of an important meeting. This feeling of exhaustion, irritation and being done with the day particularly hits in the afternoon, when you are already fighting a race against the time to get your work done.

If you have yawned at least once reading this and are trying really hard to stay awake, we have some hacks to get you through the remaining day.

No, we are not kidding. The best way to deal with watery eyes and poor concentration is to actually take a power nap. There is no point fighting sleep if it is hampering your work and you are just not able to focus. We guarantee that you will get up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

There is a reason why coffee vending machines are available in most of the workplace canteens. When you feel incredibly helpless and taking a power nap is just not an option, we suggest taking the old route. A cup of coffee will surely help you to get energised and ready to face the rest of the day.

Nothing seems to be working? Get up and get moving. Do a few stretches, take a walk around your office premises and catch some fresh air. We are pretty sure that the lethargy will go away after doing some physical activity.             —Times of India
