A purified water distribution initiative for rickshaw pullers and pedestrians was inaugurated on Monday.

The program was jointly launched by the local ward commissioner and freedom fighter Mofizur Rahman, and the President of Banani Society Shawkat Ali Bhuiyan.

Both Rahman and Bhuiyan appreciated the initiative taken by the retired Dhaka University Professor Dr. Mustafizur Rahman who is a renowned scientist, recently received the  French Government award "knighthood of the order of merit". They lauded it as a shining example of social responsibility and expressed hope that this will inspire others to come forward with similar endeavors.

Professor Rahman expressed his gratitude to the Almighty for the successful inauguration, despite facing some opposition from neighbors. He also extended his appreciation to Rahman and Bhuiyan for their valuable time and support.

Shomvhob.com, a leading online medicine shop, also came forward to support the initiative by donating saline bags. This will help combat dehydration, a common concern for those working outdoors in Dhaka's hot and humid climate.

Following the inauguration ceremony, purified water and saline solution were distributed to rickshaw pullers and pedestrians present at the event.
