7th BIMSTEC expert group holds meeting

The seventh meeting of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) expert group on agricultural cooperation was held in the city on Wednesday.

Ministry of Agriculture Secretary M Nasiruzzaman inaugurated the programme at a hotel in the capital.

Nasiruzzaman said, "Nine common projects have been identified for implementation by the member states but still there are questions on the source of funding, coordination mechanism and rationalisation of some of the common projects."

Ministry of Agriculture Additional Secretary (PPC) Dr. Md Abdur Rouf presided over the meeting while BIMSTEC Secretary General M Shahidul Islam, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General (SAARC & BIMSTEC) Shamsul Haque and representatives from BIMSTEC member states of Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand were also present.
