Tasnif Polymer sued for bond facility abuse

Customs Bond Commissionerate, Dhaka, filed a departmental case against Tasnif Polymer Industry Ltd for abuse of bond facilities and evasion of taxes.

A team of Customs Bond Commissionerate, Dhaka, made the penalty during a special drive with a view to preventing tax evasion and protecting the domestic industry from abuse of bonded facilities, said a statement issued by the organization.

The team, headed by its Assistant Commissioner Md Al Amin, conducted a drive at Tasnif Polymer Industry Ltd at Uttarkhan in the capital recently and filed a departmental case against the industry for abusing bond facilities and dodging taxes worth about Tk 69,25,029.

“During the drive, we seized goods inventory and other register- documents of Tasnif Polymer Industry Ltd warehouse” said Assistant Commissioner Md Al Amin.

 After scrutinizing the documents, the Customs Bond Commissionerate found that Tasnif Polymer had imported bulk amount of PP, LLDPE, adhesive tape and printing ink. But they didn’t use the products in their production and sold out the goods at local market, he added.

After an overall investigation, Dhaka Customs Bond Commissionerate filed a departmental case for mmisuse of bond facilities and ordered for payment of Tk 69,25,029 for tax evasion, said Al Amin .Dhaka Customs Bond Commissionerate also investigates some other organisations bond related activities, he added.
