Bashundhara Kings confirmed their semi-final spot of Federation Cup 2018 in a royal fashion thrashing Team BJMC by 5-1 goals in the fourth quarter-final match of the tournament at Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital on Sunday.
Bashundhara Kings Costarican forward Daniel Colindres bagged the fastest hat-trick of of the current iteration of Federation Cup to place Bashundhara Kings in the semi-finals of the tournament with a AFC Cup spot on offer.
After being held by NoFeL Sporting Club in their last group stage encounter, Bashundhara Kings were hungry to show that Kings are in a class of their own. Costa Rican World Cup squad attack spearhead Daniel Colindres might have felt a personal urge to prove himself against BJMC after being eclipsed by his Brazillian collegue Marcos Vinicius in earlier matches.
He didn’t take long to make his case as he gave Bashundhara Kings the all important lead in just the 2nd minute of the match. Colindres tapped the ball into the BJMC nets from brilliant cross by Md Ibrahim. Masuk Miah Jony zoomed the ball through to Ibrahim to set the stage for the mouth watering goal.
BJMC defender Bayeback Fombagne tried to keep Daniel in check but without much success.
BJMC forward Rezzatul Islam missed an opportunity to level the scoreline for BJMC on the 7th minute.
But Bashundhara Kings doubled their lead as Colindres continued his mayhem by dribbling past three BJMC defenders to score his second goal of the match.
Bashundhara Kings continued to launch scathing attacks for the rest of the first-half. Kings local gem Motin Miah bulleted a long pass to Mahbubur Rahman, but unfortunately he could not push the ball into post.
The match went into half-time with the scoreline of 3-0 in favour of Bashundhara.
Kings resumed the match with their characteristic aggressive play.
Jony missed another golden opportunity to score on the 59th minute of the match as he missed to toe a swinging ball from Daniel.
But Bashundhara mayhem was far from over as Kings forward Tawhidul Alam Sabuj scored a beauty to take the scoreline to 4-0 goals on the 69th minute.
Moments after being fielded in, Sabuj pushed a textbook cross from fellow Kings midfielder Ibrahim.
Now it was the turn of Motin Miah to leave his mark on the match with bulleting goal on 79th minutes, courtesy of sneaky pass by Ibrahim.
On the 86th minute of the match, Team BJMC were awarded a penalty shot in a controversial decision by the referee. Sabuj tackled BJMC defender Md Alamin inside Kings D-box which was deemed illegal by the referee.
Samson Iliasu scored the only goal for Team BJMC in the penalty on the 86th minute of the match.
