A four-day conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) began at BGB headquarters in the capital on Monday.
An 11-member Myanmar delegation led by Chief of Police General Staff Brigadier General Myo Than joined the conference.Besides, a 15-member BGB delegation led by BGB Additional Director General Brigadier General Md Anisur Rahman also joined the event.
High officials of Home and Foreign Ministries and Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) are among Bangladeshi delegation apart from BGB officials.
Bangladesh and Myanmar share a 271km border.
The agenda of conference are prevention of smuggling of contraband drugs, exchange of fire at the border, illegal entry of Myanmar nationals into Bangladesh, repatriation of those stuck after crossing the border and various steps to develop trust and cooperation between the two forces.
A “Joint Record of Discussions (JRD)” will be signed on July 12 on the last day of the conference.
