The first ever women Leadership Fest ends in Dhaka on Sunday through distribution of awards to successful women and women-friendly organisations in the country.
Bangladesh Brand Forum and Women in Leadership (WIL) jointly organised the event marking International Women’s Day at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital ceremony on Sunday night.Prime Minister’s International Affairs Advisor Gowher Rizvi was the chief guest while Women in Leadership President Nazia Andaleeb Preema and ACI Consumer Brands Managing Director Syed Alamgir were, among others, present on the occasion.
This year, a total of 217 nominations were received for the award for 15 categories. Two jury panels, consisting of experts and renowned professionals selected the winners. Among the 15 awardees, 13 were women and one award was given to the most female friendly organisation and another to a female-supporting male individual.
Began on International Women’s Day, the three-day festival engaged women from all walks of life. The women in Leadership (WIL) fest comprised of Women Leadership Summit, Inspiring Women Award, Freedom of Choice Exhibition, Startup Talk and several other components.
On the last day, the most inspiring female professionals of the country were honoured with Inspiring Women Award. The underlying message of Inspiring Women’s Award is to officially recognise women’s efforts in the country; to empower women professionals and create role models in society (at both individual and the organizational levels).
The summit brought together numbers of global and local speakers, such as Forbes Media India Editor Nazneen Karmali, Future Considerations Director Beth Macdonald, Asian University of Women Vice Chancelor Prof. Nirmala Rao, University of Dhaka ProfRashed Al Mahmud Titumir and Grameenphone Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Mahmud Hossain in different session.
