Gold bars worth Tk1.40cr recovered in Chuadanga

Within a span of 48 hours, the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Chuadanga successfully foiled another attempt of gold smuggling in the area and recovered gold worth Tk. 1.40 crore.
The paramilitary forces also detained a youth along with nine gold bars worth Tk1.50 crore from Dugdugi bazar of Damurhuda in Chuadanga on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team led by Khandaker Obaidur Rahman of Darshana Border Observation Post (BOP) started patrolling in Nastipur bordering area around 9:45 am, said Lt Col Saeed Mohammad Zahidur Rahman, commanding officer of Chuadanga-6 BGB Battalion.
They challenged a youth based on his suspicious movement and at one stage he fled the spot, leaving behind a packet.
The men BGB found 10 pieces of gold bars weighing 1,164 grams (99.79 bhori) worth about Tk. 1.40 crore.
A case was filed at Darshana Police Station in this connection.
