Fahad clinches Nat’l Sub-Junior Chess title

The youngest Fide Master of the country Mohammad Fahad Rahman clinched the title of the 34th National Sub-Junior (Under-16) Chess Championship with unbeaten record that concluded at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room on Friday.


Ananta Chowdhury finished unbeaten runners-up in the meet through tiebreaking system as Fahad and Ananta earned identical 6.5 points from their 7 round games, UNB reports.


Subrata Biswas was placed third bagging six points while Kindgshuk Das, Nayeem Haque and Akib Jawad finished 4th, 5th and 6th respectively.


In the 7th and last round games, Fahad outplayed Nayeem, Ananta beat Akib and Subrata defeated Kingshuk.


Jannatul Ferdous emerged champion in the Girls’ section of the meet securing 5 points while Jhorna Begum became 2nd also with 5 points. Niwshin Anjum finished 3rd with 4 points.


A total of 62 players from Dhaka city and several other districts took part in the event.
