Adilur Rahman Khan, Secretary of human rights organisation Odhikar and director ASM Nasiruddin Elan have filed an appealed to the High Court (HC) against the jail sentence awarded to them in a case filed in 2013.

Their lawyer Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan confirmed the matter to media on Monday.

Judge AM Julfiker Hayet of Dhaka's Cyber Tribunal passed the verdict on September 14 in the case of creating confusion about the death toll in the Hefazet Islam rally at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel a decade ago. In addition to two years imprisonment, they have been sentenced to one month imprisonment in default to pay a fine of Tk 10,000. After the verdict, they were sent to jail with warrants.
