Tourist swept away by waves in Cox’s Bazar

A tourist was swept away by strong waves while taking a bath at Laboni point on Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Tuesday.

The 40-year-old man, identified as Shahjahan, a resident of Chattogram, went to the beach with his family.

Tourist Police Cox's Bazar region’s ASP Molla Mohammad Shahin said Shahjahan and his family members were taking a morning bath at Laboni Point on the beach.

While bathing in the knee-deep water, he was washed away by a powerful wave.

After a search operation by his relatives and local lifeguards, Shahjahan's body was found floating in the water.

He was immediately rushed to the Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital where he was declared dead by the duty doctor.
