A three-member delegate of Argentina Primera Division club Club Atletico River Plate will arrive Dhaka on Monday to sit with higher officials of the top five clubs of Bangladesh Premier League including Bashundhara Kings, Dhaka Abahani Ltd, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Mohammedan Sporting Club and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd.

Embassy of the Argentine Republic in India’s head of Economic and Trade Section Franco Agustin Senilliani Melchior, CA River Plate’s National and International Football Schools Department president Sebastian Perez Escobar and advisor Gonzalo Lamas are in the three-member delegate.

The delegates will individually sit with these club officials, arranged by Bangladesh Football Federation, at different schedules at Intercontinental Dhaka in the capital.

Bashundhara Kings officials are the first to sit with River Plate delegates at 11 am, followed by Dhaka Abahani Ltd at 12 pm, Mohammedan Sporting Club at 2 pm, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd at 3 pm and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at 4 pm.

“There is no fixed agenda in this meeting. We will meet with them, talk with them, and exchange our views. We will give them a clear sketch of our football and will know theirs,” said BFF first vice-president and Bashundhara Kings president Imrul Hassan to The Daily Sun.

“If they have any proposal we will hear or if we have any offer we will share there. The purpose of this meeting is to develop friendly relationships between these two football frenzy nations,” he added.

Earlier, Sheikh Jamal DC invited Football legend Diego Armando Maradona’s former club Gimnasia de La Plata of Argentina to play two friendly matches in September in Dhaka. Sheikh Jamal officially confirmed that the Argentine club agreed to play in Dhaka but the venue and schedule are yet to be fixed.

Maradona was the coach of Gimnasia until his last breath. The Argentine club also showed respect to Bangladesh’s Argentine fans waving Bangladesh’s flag during their Argentina Primera Division match against Defense y Justicia earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Argentine foreign minister Santiago Andres Cafiero is also expected to arrive in Dhaka today to make a two-day visit here. The FM is expected to visit BFF house, to talk with BFF president Kazi Md Salahuddin and to enjoy a friendly football match at BFF turf on the last day of his visit on Tuesday.
