The lawyers of Brahmanbaria bar have decided to return to professional duties after ending court boycott programme.

Leaders of the bar took the decision following a meeting with Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Sunday to reduce sufferings of the litigants.

Held at Brahmanbaria circuit house, the meeting was attended by lawmaker from Brahmanbaria-3 constituency RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar, Brahmanbaria District and Sessions Judge Sharmin Nigar,  Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Rabiul Hasan, Deputy Commissioner  Md Shahgir Alam, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain, Bar Association President Tanvir Bhuiyan, among others.

The lawyers went on court boycott to press home their demand for withdrawal of District and Sessions Judge Sharmin Nigar and Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Judge Mohammad Faruq.

Earlier, on January 9, Judge Sharmin Nigar lodged a contempt plea with the Chief Justice against 21 lawyers of Brahmanbaria for demonstrating and abusing her.

This widened gap between the bench and bar further.
