Newly appointed envoys of three Nordic countries to Bangladesh paid courtesy calls on Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at her letter's office.
The envoys are the Swedish Ambassador in Dhaka Alexandra Berg von Linde, the Ambassador of Denmark Winnie Estrup and Norway Ambassador Espen Rikter-Svendsen.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues, including Bangladesh's long friendly relations with the Nordic countries, Bangladesh's socioeconomic development, trade expansion, women empowerment, climate change, and peaceful repatriation of Rohingya populations to their homeland Myanmar.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin said under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government is working to build a developed, prosperous and smart Bangladesh by 2041.
She said under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, a marked development has been achieved in the socioeconomic field of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh has achieved remarkable success in ensuring food security, successful implementation of Padma Bridge, addressing climate change impacts and natural disasters, eliminating gender inequality, and economic and political empowerment of women.
Senior officials of the Parliament Secretariat were present.
