ABG Bashundhara extends hands to support National Women’s Football Team

The country’s largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group’s concern ABG Limited extended their hands to support the National Women’s Football Team to make the team's progress easier toward the success in football.

ABG Limited inked a three-year deal with Bangladesh Football Federation to provide monetary assistance for women’s football league, national and international competitions and other development projects for women’s football at MD House, Block G, Plot 15W in the Bashundhara R/A, Dhaka on Thursday.

Managing Director of Bashundhara Group and ABG Limited and Chairman of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd Sayem Sobhan Anvir signed on behalf of sponsor ABG Limited while FIFA Council Member, BFF Executive Committee member and BFF Women’s Wing Chairman Mahfuza Akter Kiron on behalf of the federation.

Bashundhara Group Deputy Managing Director and Head of Accounts and Finance, Bashundhara Kings President and BFF Vice-President Imrul Hassan, ABG Ltd advisor Mostofa Azad Mohiuddin, BFF vice-president Mohiuddin Mohi, BFF general secretary Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, and T-Sports CEO Ishtiaque Sadeque attended the signing ceremony.

Also, Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Kaler Kantho Editor-in-Chief Imdadul Haq Milan, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Kaler Kantho Editor Shahed Muhammad Ali, News24 Executive Editor Rahul Raha and other distinguished personalities were also present.

Kiron, Mohi and Shohag thanked Bashundhara Group and sponsor ABG Ltd and expressed their gratitude to Sayem Sobhan Anvir for his support and assistance to women's football while Imrul highlighted the role and importance of Bashundhara Group in the country's sports arena.

“Bashundhara Group is the real sports lover. If it is not that, this contract signing would not happen. I will thank Anvir vai, he is really a sports frenzy person and he kept his commitments. We hope women's football will go far away and Bashundhara Group will always be with us,” said Kiron.   

“The assistance from the sponsors will be invested in the women's league and development of the national team and age-level team’s infrastructure and tournaments. Their support will help the team a lot. Bashundhara is our elite sponsor,” she added.

“Mr Sayem Sobhan Anvir has kept his commitments. I, on behalf of BFF President Kazi Md Salahuddin and the Executive Committee, thank Mr Sayem Sobhan Anvir and Bashundhara Group. We believe that Bashundhara Group will always stay with the Bangladesh Football Federation,” said Shohag.

“We believe Bangladesh football will go far away with the support of Bashundhara Group. Their involvement in football will inspire others. All the credit goes to Sayem Sobhan Anvir. He is a real sports lover, a great sports patroniser. No chance to deny his role in the country's football,” said Mohi.

“Bashundhara Group is for the welfare of the country and its people. We are different from other at this point. The key persons of Bashundhara Group are Chairman Mr Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and his sons. All of them are sports lovers. Their sports loving nature gave us a mission and the mission is we have to take the country's sports and sportsmen into a platform,” said Imrul.

“Bashundhara Group patronised Bashundhara Kings, Sheikh Russel KC, Sheikh Jamal DC in football, and Rangpur Riders in cricket. Not only cricket and football, we also patronise golf, taekwondo, and hockey. We have a big dream and our visionary leaders are Chairman Mr Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and his sons. Bashundhara will always stay with BFF, especially the women’s football,” he added.

“We don't need any publicity. We just want to see women's football on a state. Women’s football is a little bit better than men’s. If they get a little bit support, they will go for a long way that we believe in,” he ended.
