CU students begin sit-in protesting mismanagement at railway

CHATTOGRAM: After Dhaka, a group of students of Chittagong University (CU) started sit-in programme to press home six-point demand including one to end mismanagement at Bangladesh Railway at Chattogram Railway Station on Sunday.

 Displaying placard and hanging banner, four students of the CU started the movement expressing solidarity with the student continuing the protest programme at Kamalapur Railway Station.

 The CU students started the demonstration since Sunday morning.

 Their six-point demand include an end to harassment by during purchasing ticket and action in case of harassment after investigation, preventing ticket black marketing, ensuing equal opportunity in purchasing ticket online and offline, increasing number of train considering the demand, monitoring the activities of ticket examiners and others concerned, and selling food at fair price and providing drinking water at free of cost in the trains.

 Agitator Mahin Rubel said they were observing the sit-in programme peacefully protesting different mismanagements at the railway.

 “We want immediate solutions to the problems,” he said.

 The movement will continue until the demands are met, said Mahin.

 Mentionable, another student Mohiuddin Rony of Dhaka University has been continuing movement protesting the mismanagement at Kamalapur Railway station for the last 11 days.
