Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Wednesday said the city corporation will construct at least a public toilet in each ward.

“Dhaka dwellers had a long cherished desire to have public toilets in public spaces and where people throng for different purposes, we have started our work in this regard. We want to construct at least one public toilet in each of 75 wards,” said Taposh while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a public toilet at Janopath road area under Jatrabari in the capital.

Taposh said the public toilet has different chambers for male and female.

He said the number of public toilets will be increased based on the assessment only after completing construction of one public toilet in each ward.

Talking about rehabilitation of underprivileged people, Taposh said, “DSCC has a shelter for underprivileged and vagabond   but Rapid Action Battalion grabs it. I request them to vacate the buildings but they are yet to do it.  Apart from that we have some plan to rehabilitate the group.”
