80 women trafficked in 2 years, 3 arrested

An international gang of criminals trafficked about 80 women to Saudi Arabia, Oman and Dubai in the last two years.

Rapid Action Battalion-1 (RAB) arrested three members of the gang and rescued three victims from the capital’s Airport area on Sunday.

They are Azizul Haque, 56, son  of late Saheb Mia of Chattogram, Moslem Uddin alias Rafiq, 50, son of late Farid Mia of Chattogram and Mohamamd Kawser, 45, son of late Mohammad Abdul of Dhaka.

Lt Col Abdullah Al-Momen, commanding officer of RAB-1, said this while briefing reporters at his office in Uttara on Monday.

Three passports, three mobile sets and Tk 27,000 were seized from them, he said.

During primary interrogation, they said that Mohiuddin, 37, and Shilpi, 35, are now staying in Dubai and leading the racket while Azizul is the prime coordinator of the group.

Nur Nabi alias Rana, 35, of Noakhali, Manjur Hossain, 33, of Dhaka and Tahmina Begum, 48, who are the members of the racket, went into hiding, he also said.

They targeted young beautiful girls and allured them of giving jobs abroad. Those, who agreed to go, were trafficked to Saudi, Oman and Dubai for immoral acts. They trafficked 80 women in the last two years, he added.
