Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said a process was underway to bring back the convicted fugitive assassins of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Twelve sacked army officers who staged the August 15, 1975 massacre, killing Bangabandhu along with most of his family members were sentenced to death after a protracted trial process that began in 1996.
Five of the assassins were hanged on January 28, 2010, one died a natural death abroad and six others are still on the run abroad another died
Approached by the newsmen at the scene, Nurul Islam said one of his priorities was to take stubborn action against human traffickers and launch a massive anti-trafficking awareness.
Tarana Halim reiterated her stance against corruption in her ministry saying "corruption and illegal Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) business will be stopped at any cost".
Gopalganj district administrator Chowdhury Emdadul Haque, district Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub Ali Khan, deputy commissioner M Khalilur Rahman, police super SM Imran Hossain and Tungipara Upazila chairman Gazi Golam Mostofa, were present on the occasion, among others.
