Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam today said deputy commissioners (DCs) have to increase revenue collection and capacity of local government.
Asked if the local government has given any outline to DCs to increase revenue of the organization, he said, "We have discussed it."
He told reporters after a three-day Deputy Commissioners' Conference at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
"The deputy commissioners have raised their field level allegations and some questions have come up. Discussions have also been held on what management can strengthen the Union Parishad," he said.
The local government minister said discussions were also held on strengthening the municipality and developing rural infrastructure.
About the election of the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC), he said that the NCC election has been 100 cent percent neutral.
"It has been recognized by all the diplomats. This is a good example for us. In Bangladesh, local government elections are held in a fair manner. It has been proved."
