A housewife allegedly killed her female domestic help suspecting her (aide) extramarital affairs with her husband.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested the accused woman Syed Samina Hasan, 60, and her husband Syed Jasimul Hasan, 63, from their residence at Niketan at Gulshan-1 in the capital on Saturday.

Jahangir Alam, superintendent of police (SP) at Dhaka Metro North of the PBI, revealed this information to reporters at his office in city’s Agargaon on Sunday.

Police recovered the body of an unknown woman from Jhauban at Diabari in Turag on December 2. Later, the cops identified her as Parveen alias Fency Ara, 30, wife of Mohammad Mominul, he said.

The PBI began investigation and came to know that she worked at the residence of Jasimul as a domestic help, he said.

The members of the PBI suspected Jasimul-Samina couple that they might have hand behind the murder, the officer also said.

During primary interrogation, they confessed their involvement in the murder, added the PBI SP.

The police officer described that Samina suspected that Fency had extramarital affairs with her husband.

On December 1 morning, Samina and Fency locked in an altercation over the matter and one stage the housewife (Samina) hit her head with a stick, leaving her dead on the spot.

Afterwards, Jasimul, Samina and their driver Ramjan Ali picked up the body to their private car and put it at Jhauban. A murder case was filed against them with Turag Police Station on Friday.

In response to a question if there was really extramarital affair between the victim and Jasimul, he said that Samina suspected but could not hold them red-handed.

On the arrest of Ramjan, he said that they were trying to arrest him.

Quoting Mominul, the SP said that Mominul with her wife came to the capital from their native village Chirirbandar in Dinajpur last year. After coming to the city, he began to pull a rickshaw and her wife took the job at the residence of Jasimul. Their only child lived with its grand-mother.

According to the officer, after few days of her taking job, Jasimul did not allow Mominul to meet her.

A few months ago, her wife phoned him and told that she was tortured and confined by her employers.

Then, Mominul lodged a general diary (GD) with Gulshan Police Station. Later in October he went to the residence of the employers and met his wife last, and went to his native village.

Mominul said that the employer Jasimul paid Tk 1,000 to him through bKash every month.
