‘Rohingya’ gets censor certificate

National Film Award-winning filmmaker Syed Wahiduzzaman Diamond’s latest film ‘Rohingya’ has got an uncut censor certificate. Bangladesh Film Censor Board issued the certificate to the feature film on Tuesday.

The film ‘Rohingya’ is based on the stories of the Myanmar Rohingyas, who have been sheltered at different camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. According to the maker, the film aims to give the viewers a glimpse into the plight of the displaced Rohingya people, who fled from Myanmar violence.

The film was shot at different locations in Cox’s Bazar. Wahiduzzaman also penned the script and screenplay of the film.  Arshi, Omar Ayaz Oni, Sagar, Bristi, Tanzid, Shakiba, Hayatuzzaman, Golam Rabbani Mintu and others will play different roles in ‘Rohingya’.

 Wahiduzzaman won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director for the film ‘Gangajatra’ in 2009. The film also won National Film Awards in eight categories and Bachsas Awards in seven categories.
